Q #235: By its very title, A Course in Miracles, Jesus is telling us that He will indeed intervene in this mad dream we're having. There is no problem that cannot be answered by a miracle, whether it be in finances, health or emotional turmoil, or anything in between. That is the whole reason Jesus took the time to come to us in this form. All the work we do to undo our ego identification results in the undoing of all our problems. Every problem is answered. Our Light shines away all the darkness. So to put this in a question form: why is not more emphasis put on the realization of one's happiness by following the Course?

A: Why not more emphasis on finding happiness through the Course, you ask? Because none of us wants the happiness that the Course offers us. We all want our definition of happiness, which means having our personal needs met, whether they be financial, health, emotional or whatever. But that is not what the Course offers. It is inviting us through the practice of forgiveness to let go of all our judgments and grievances until, at the end of the process, we also release our identification with this personal self that we believe has all these problems and needs. The happiness the Course holds out to us comes from awakening from the dream of pain which we call our lives here in the world, a dream in which there is no hope of real happiness. But we don’t want that. And so Jesus says he must first teach us the difference between joy and pain, between freedom and imprisonment (T.7.X; T.8.II.4,5). Otherwise we will continue to seek pain, believing it is joy, and strive to maintain our imprisonment, insisting it is freedom. We need a lot of help, but not with the "problems" of the world.

To answer your unstated question -- neither God nor Jesus intervenes in the world. Nor do they intervene in our minds. To intervene and fix problems at any level would be to make the error of separation real (T.26.VII.12). And the correction, which the Course calls the Atonement principle, says the separation never in reality happened. So it would make no sense for God or Jesus to intervene in our insane world. We made up all of our worldly problems so that we could cover over and not have to look at what we believe is the real problem -- the guilt in our mind over separating from God. The only help we need is with changing our minds about that guilt and, although we can’t do this on our own, Jesus tells us he can’t change our minds for us. He can only show us what we have made real and its consequences, in the world and in our minds, in the hope that we will recognize our insanity and be willing to make the same choice he has already made (T.2.VI.4; T.2.VII.1; T.3.IV.7; T.5.II.9,10,11:1; T.8.IV.4,5,6).

The thing is, none of us really minds being unhappy, so long as we don’t think we’re responsible for that unhappiness. We want a world and relationships with problems that victimize us so that we don’t have to see that our choice for separation and individuality is the real cause of all our pain. And until we can recognize and accept that fact, we will have no interest in the happiness that following the Course offers us. We will find real happiness by following Jesus’ teaching, but not because all of our problems in the world will be resolved as a result of his intercession. We have no problems in the world that need resolving. Yes, all the darkness will disappear in the light of who we are -- and that includes not only all of our problems in the world, but the world itself and the self we think we are within the world, as well as the guilt within our mind that is the source of all of our projections into a world of form. Because for most of us, that thought is fearful, Jesus assures us in many places in his Course that the path is a process and we will progress along it at our pace, as we are comfortable (e.g., T.16.VI.8:1,2,3). But at least now we can understand our resistance to practicing his teachings of forgiveness. As Jesus reminds us, "Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all of the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. It is not necessary to seek for what is true, but it is necessary to seek for what is false" (T.16.IV.6:1,2).

His control of our behaviour leads to outward acts of giving miracles. His guidance of our thinking, however, leads to the inward experience of revelation.

Ich hatte hier noch die Kommentare von Robert Perry, der das Textbuch in mittlerweile vier Bänden (weitere in Arbeit) erläutert. Er weist darauf hin, dass zusätzlich zu dieser Passage im Ur-Text noch der Nachsatz stand: Never perform a miracle without asking me if you should.. Das ist sprachlich eine etwas andere Nuance.

Es ist immer problematisch, wenn herkömmliche Wunder in Zusammenhang mit dem Begriff "Wunder", wie er im Kurs verwendet wird, gebracht werden. Vergebung ist das größte Wunder, das wir lernen zu wirken. Die Wirkung der Vergebung geht weit über unsere Wahrnehmungsgrenzen hinaus.

Auch in der herkömmlichen Ausgabe des Kurses ist vollkommen klargestellt, dass wir uns nicht darum zu kümmern brauchen, "welche" Wunder wir wirken sollen. Wir brauchen nur die Bereitschaft lernen, für Wunder offen zu sein - für Vergebung offen zu sein. Jesus sagt uns, dass er den Überblick hat, und er deshalb Wunder genau dort geschehen lässt, wo sie hilfreich sind und nicht noch mehr Angst hervorrufen.

Mit Wundern verhält es sich ähnlich wie mit den Dingen im Übungsbuch. Auch dort werden wir angehalten, keine bewusste "Auswahl" zu treffen, welche Dinge wir in den Übungen verwenden und welche nicht. Wir lernen so, dass alles gleichermaßen wert ist, vergeben zu werden. Dass alles ein Wunder verdient.

Desweiteren ist es nach Perry so: If we decide where they should go, we will end up giving them to people who are not really open to them, and perhaps also giving beyond our means. We will therefor exhaust ourselves.

Wenn er das wirklich so gesagt hat, dann ist dies eine sehr naive und sehr "kopflastige" Annäherung an den Kurs. Und das führt eher zu weiterer Verwirrung statt zu Klärung.
Ich finde überhaupt eine Interpretation des Textbuches nicht unbedingt hilfreich. Stattdessen wäre es eine gute Übung, Jesus immer einzuladen, wenn wir im Textbuch lesen und IHN zu bitten, mit uns zu lesen.

Tja, mir auch, aber das ist das was Perry so schrieb, im Urtext wird da wohl noch auf jemanden angespielt (Edgar Cayce), der es mit der Trance übertrieben hatte. Dazu Perry: "This (=to get exhausted), according to Jesus, is what Edgar Cayce did. He didn´t ask which miracle to perform and destroyed his health through doing too many."

"Christ-control"?? "Christ-guidance"??
Soweit ich die Sache verstehen kann, geht's im Kurs doch nur um "Christ-guidance"; von "Christ-control" ist nirgends die Rede...soviel ich weiss. Irre ich mich da?

Aus dem urtext, da stand das mit diesen beiden Begriffen noch drin. Aber auch auf den S. 9 und 10 ist noch an einer Stelle von der Kontrolle der Handlungen die Rede und auch, dass Jesus unseren Geist führen möchte. Aber ich lass das man sein hier an dieser Stelle mit dem anderen Buch, da es ja dann nicht mehr um das Blaue Buch der FIP, sondern auch noch ein Vermengen mit dem Urtext geht.

@Johannes: mit deinem Hinweis, dass es auf die Bereitschaft/Bereitwilligkeit ankommt, war ich auch besser gefahren. Aber der Satz hat heute scheinbar nicht nur mich verwirrt. Ich denke es könnte von Perry/Mackie so gemeint sein, dass ich nun nicht auf dem Weg zur Arbeit jeden Autofahrer anhalte, an den Seitenrand winke und mit ihm ein Problemgespräch führe und sozusagen "Wunderbesessen" durch die Welt eile: heute fliege ich nach Afrika und "norde" Ghaddafi ein, morgen dann nach Berlin um Gutenberg die Leviten zu lesen und und und - ohne Pause die "Welt" retten wollen, das könnte sich hinter dem "übertreiben" verstecken. Also eher so wie Anne schrieb:

Jeder hat mit seinem Teil zu tun, dass der Vergebung bedarf. Und das kann bei jedem Menschen anders aussehen.

What was originally there was not how it was supposed to be in the published version. Again, Helen’s hearing was rusty at the beginning, and her considerable anxiety colored what she heard. Students really have to be clear that these are not the literal words of Jesus—the meaning is, but not the actual language. As I said before, Helen’s ego got in the way of some of the more specific messages to her (and Bill)....When the written material is typed and retyped, mistakes happen, especially if the retypings are not adequately proofread, which was the case with the Course. We subsequently did proofread it at our Foundation in New York, with one group of people reading from the Urtext to be sure that we finally got everything right. ...I remember when we are at an airport, a very sincere woman came up to Helen after hearing us speak, and asked: “How could Jesus have dictated the Course; he didn’t know English?” I don’t recall Helen’s response to this sweet question, except that she was gracious in providing a brief reply (we had to catch a plane). The question, however, reflects an important point. Again, Jesus does not speak in words. To say it differently and succinctly here, his is the content, our minds (and brains) supply the form. Therefore, Helen’s decision-making mind identified itself with the non-ego presence that is in everyone. This non-judgmental thought system of love was represented for her by Jesus, as it is for so many of us. Her mind took that non-specific love and translated it into words, in much the same way as our brains translate the upside-down image cast on the retina into right-side-up perceptions....Returning to this important point, there is a prominent idea that what Helen took down are Jesus’ literal words, and are therefore sacred and should never have been altered. This is as patently absurd as the lady who wrote to me after the second (and numbered) edition was published, accusing me of changing Jesus’ course by adding numbers to it.

Das Ego ist ein in sich geschlossenes Gedankensystem - du kannst es dir als "Kreis" vorstellen. Deshalb gibt es auch nicht so etwas wie "mein" oder "dein" Ego. In seinem Kreis sucht es sich immer einen Ausdruck. Und dort, wo es Gehör vorfindet, dort schlägt es zu.
Solange das Ego etwas ist, was du nicht "greifen" kannst, kann es mit dir also machen, was es will. Es kann dich von allen Seiten her angreifen...entweder über deine eigenen Gedanken, Worte und Taten oder über die Gedanken, Worte und Taten anderer.

Wenn du das Ego näher kennenlernst - und über weite Teile deckt Jesus im Kurs dessen Vorgangsweisen und Machenschaften auf - wird es immer leichter für dich werden, dich von ihm zu distanzieren, ja dich schließlich gänzlich von ihm loszusagen.

Der erste - und wichtigste - Schritt ist einmal, es in dir zu identifizieren. Denn dann brauchst du es nicht mehr auf deine Umgebung projizieren. Natürlich geht es in dieser Phase ziemlich "rund" zu in dir. Denn du benützt "die anderen" nicht mehr als Blitzableiter und kriegst seine Angriffe voll selbst ab.
Und das ist es, was du im Moment so erlebst.

Aber hab keine Angst davor. Das Ego ist von dir abhängig, nicht du von ihm. Es scheint überhaupt nur da zu sein, solange du ihm "Nahrung" gibst. Wenn du beginnst, den Kurs zu üben, bekommt es immer weniger Futter und wird panisch.
Doch ist es nur ein Einbildung. Und jede Einbildung verschwindet, wenn sie nicht künstlich aufrecht erhalten wird.

In Wahrheit bist du frei. Das kannst du auch jetzt jederzeit schon fühlen. Das Ego kann dir nicht wirklich etwas anhaben - weder "deines", noch das der anderen...

Wo geht's denn in Global Change um Interpretationen des Textbuches? Muss mir etwas entgangen sein...oder du hast etwas missverstanden...
